Labour Day Weekend

Decided to get out of the US for the long weekend and found a great deal using Hotwire. We drove in and arrived at the hotel around 5. Unloaded the car and had a bellman get the bags, only to find out that they didn't have any rooms ready. We were given a drink voucher and asked for our phone number so they could call us when our room was ready. We decided to go walk the city to find food. After about three hours of walking around Toronto we headed back to the hotel. It was close to 9, and the Front Desk agent started out with how the hotel was Sold Out and oversold. He tried offering to walk us for the night to a property down the street. That would've been an option upon first trying to check, but they messed up when they asked for a phone number to call us when our room was ready, that in itself means that you're gonna have a room ready for a guest. Or at least it should. Plus it's harder to walk a guest who has booked using a third party site, than someone who booked directly through IHG. After declining the "walk" the agent looked around in the computer. Asked if we wanted a room with a King or two beds. We opted for the King. We were told it would be on a Club floor, however we weren't allowed to have access to the Club Lounge. Made our keys and called forvthe bellman with our stuff. He took us up only to find out that our keys didn't work. So we went to the 8th floor and had them re-keyed. Finally got into the room and it was definitely a great switch from our previous night experience in PA. The bellman unloaded our stuff in the room. And we had to take in the view from the room. Even being on the 9th floor, the view was nice. After traveling all day and walking around for a few hours, we needed to freshen up. I set my sights on the shower, and oh how it was amazing. The shower is one of my favorite aspects of the overallexperience, so much so that I took two showers a day. The over head showerhead was great, and then the multifunction water wand. I loved it so much that we're considering redoing our master suite. Anyway, it was nice to relax after a long day. The bed was comfortable. And we turned on the TV, and it was interesting watching the news from a completely different perspective. Sleeping was great. Slept in and woke up the next morning, got ready and headed out for breakfast. A short walk to Siempre (review will be posted,) and then from there a walk to Rogers Center futon get tickets for the Blue Hays game. Here's the convenience of the InterContinental, it's next to and connected to everything. We took a short cut, into a walking bridge, that was connected to the Convention Center that is connected to the hotel. After changing, we headed back to the baseball park. After the game we headed back to the hotel and got the car from the valet and decided to drive around Toronto. Most of the places we went were closed or closing up, let's hear it for Sunday's! After dinner and a drive we made our way back to the hotel to call it a night. Monday morning, Labour Day, a city that takes the day serious, a big majority of place were closed. Headed out for breakfast and eventually came back to the hotel. Opted to go for a walk along the water and exploring Toronto. Came back to the hotel and headed to the 3rd floor to the pool. I decided to try out the steam sauna which was great to sweat out everything in my body. Tried out the hot tub and then headed back to the room to get ready to go out for a birthday dinner. After dinner and bar hopping, we made it back to the hotel, redeemed a drink voucher and headed to our room. Overall a great stay. A few minor things to mention: • Every time the AC came on it sounded like someone was knocking on the door. • Stopped by the concierge to request housekeeping service the room, and they never showed up. We had removed the DND from the door. I would definitely stay here again, and am looking into planning to visit for FanFest next year
