Dig literature? Well, there’s no way you won’t dig the International Festival of Authors at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. Beginning October 22 and running through November 1, 2015, the 36th edition of this popular fall festival is a magnet for an international melting pot of writers who are the best in the field of contemporary literature. During the 11 jam-packed days, you’ll have an opportunity to attend lectures, readings, roundtable discussions, book signings, and interviews. There will also be a series of special events that range from the Harbourfront Festival Prize award ceremony to the Governor General’s Literary Award celebration to the Roger Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize finalists festivities.
Each year, the International Festival of Authors makes a concerted effort to set aside time to highlight books and authors with a specific emphasis. This year is no exception. One of the focuses will be on the work of both established and up-and-coming poets while the other will cover the lively literary scene and eclectic culture of Spain’s Catalonia region. A great way to save money to this Toronto festival is to purchase a Festival Flex Pass. You’ll get 10 tickets for $120 (individual tickets are $18 so you’ll save $60—such a deal!). What’s more, the pass allows you to reserve tickets ahead of time but you don’t have to commit to any one performance (hence the name Flex Pass). Tickets are free for students and folks 25 and under, although that’s subject to availability.
